Tanner Hoops, the sports director for ESPN Radio, Upper Peninsula in Marquette, Michigan has completed his new book, “Hit the Ball, Joe!”: a stirring opus that tells of a resolute young man’s ambition to become an accomplished baseball player through hard work and hope.

Tanner writes, “Fifth-grader Joe Snyder has a dream of one day playing baseball for the Minnesota Twins. His immediate goal, however, is to become a member of the Apple Valley Bears, along with his two friends, Mario Benoit and Lynn Rodriguez. The Apple Valley Bears are trying to become the 10th team in the Minnesota Regional Baseball League.

The book traces Joe’s efforts to become a member of the team, the team’s efforts to become the final team in the Minnesota Regional Baseball League, and the baseball season that follows. Tanner describes each game the Bears play, leading to the conference tournament at the end of the summer. Meanwhile, Joe’s parents have a great surprise for Joe.”
